Choosing a race

The selection screen

The first time a character spawns into a world with the mod installed, everything stops and the Choose your Race screen takes over. Input is blocked until you pick.

You get eight options, laid out in two rows:

Row 1Row 2
Human · Fenrir · Skadi · SkeletonAswid · Furling · Trol · Draugh

Clicking a race opens a confirmation panel with a short description and OK / Back. Nothing is committed until you press OK — use Back freely to read them all.

Human is a real choice, not a placeholder. It picks no race at all and leaves the character completely vanilla, which is the option to use if you want an unmodded player in a modded server's party.

What happens on confirm

Confirming writes the race onto your character and, for most races, changes you immediately:

  • Your race is saved on the character and broadcast to other players so they see the right visuals.
  • Races with a skin tint (Aswid, Furling, Trol, Draugh, Skadi) recolour on the spot. Your original skin colour is stored first, so it can be restored if you reset later.
  • Fenrir additionally gains its curse effect, which is what drives its transformations.

The skin also shows up on the character preview in the main menu, so you can see what your Skadi or Furling looks like before loading a world.

Changing your race

There is no in-game penalty-free "respec" button in the released build. To change race, open the console and run:

resetrace

This clears the saved race, strips the race's status effects, restores your original skin colour, and reopens the selection screen so you can pick again.

:::caution What resetrace does not undo Resetting clears your race and its passive effects. It does not roll back anything the race permanently changed on your character — skill XP you earned at a doubled rate stays earned, and food you already ate stays eaten. :::

See Console commands for the full list, including how to open the console in the first place.
