Races of Valheim
Races of Valheim replaces the one thing Valheim never lets you change: what you are. The first time you spawn into a world, the mod stops you and asks you to choose a race. That choice rewrites how you eat, how you fight, what can hurt you, what ignores you, and what you turn into when things get serious.
Every race then grows along the same spine the game already has — the seven bosses. Each boss you (or your server) put down unlocks the next tier of your race's powers, so progression is never a separate grind. Kill Bonemass, become more of what you are.
What you get
| 7 playable races | Skeleton, Skadi, Fenrir, Aswid, Furling, Trol, Draugh — plus plain Human if you want none of it |
| 8 progression tiers | From "no bosses defeated" through Eikthyr, The Elder, Bonemass, Moder, Yagluth, The Queen and Fader |
| Transformations | Drakes, dragons, wolves, cultists, bats, mist, and a Trol that rips trees out of the ground to use as clubs |
| Rewritten survival rules | Races that cannot eat cooked food, races with no stamina bar, races that eat their kills, races with five stomach slots |
| Multiplayer aware | Transformations are synced so other players see what you have become |

:::note In-game reference You do not have to keep this wiki open while you play. Every race writes a live entry into your character's compendium (the in-game texts menu) listing exactly the abilities you have unlocked so far. See The compendium. :::
