Furling
Cunning goblin-like creatures. Agile and resourceful.
The Furling has no transformation key and no active ability. It is the pure-passive race: you play Valheim normally, and Valheim gives you roughly twice as much of everything.
If the thing you find tedious about Valheim is the grind — skill XP, ore runs, trophy RNG, crafting quantities — this is the race that deletes it.
Base kit (tier 1)
- Goblin heritage. You play as a Fuling. Male characters lose their hair and beard.
- Combat Mastery — all weapon and combat skills gain 2× XP, permanently.
- +10% movement speed, permanently.
Progression
| Boss | Unlock |
|---|---|
| Base | Goblin model · 2× combat XP · +10% speed |

| Bonemass | Dance of the Dead — crafting meads, bombs and ammo yields double quantity |
| Moder | The Man/Woman on the Silver Mountain — doubled trophy drops, bonus gold from starred enemies, doubled ore yield |
| Yagluth | The King is Dead, Hail to the King/Queen — in the Plains, all skills gain 2× XP |

Ability titles adapt to your character's model — Woman on the Silver Mountain, Hail to the Queen, In the Mist She Was Standing.
Controls
The Furling has no ability keys. Everything is passive.
Mechanics worth knowing
Master of Shadows (Eikthyr)
Sounds you make within 15 metres are suppressed. This is not invisibility — enemies still see you — but it makes sneaking through dungeons and past sleeping camps far more reliable, and it stacks with the Sneak skill you are already levelling at double rate.
Dance of the Dead (Bonemass)
Crafting meads, bombs and ammo produces double the output for the same input. Arrows and mead are the two things most players ration hardest, so this quietly changes how you fight for the rest of the run.
Silver Mountain (Moder)
Three separate effects, all of them economy:
- Trophy drops from normal enemies within 25 m are doubled — including enemies your tamed animals or thralls kill.
- Starred enemies drop guaranteed gold coins, scaled by their star count.
- Mining raw ore deposits yields double.
This is the single biggest tier for the race. Copper, tin, iron, silver and black metal all come in at twice the rate.
The King is Dead (Yagluth)
The 2× multiplier stops being combat-only while you are standing in the Plains biome — it extends to every skill, including Elemental Magic and Blood Magic. A HUD status icon appears in the top-right when it is active, so you always know whether it is applying.
The practical use is deliberate: go level a non-combat skill in the Plains.
Through Fire and Flames (Fader)
You are permanently wreathed in flame. This is visual only — it does no damage to you, raises no HUD warning, and does not set the world alight.
What it does do:
- Complete immunity to fire damage.
- Every physical attack sets the target on fire, regardless of weapon — including unarmed.
Stations
Five crops
Not a built station at all — five cultivator entries, bought once from the Fuling Shaman and then grown forever. No new machine either: the windmill and the smelter each just learn three extra conversions, so every vanilla recipe in both still works.
| Seed | Price | Grows into | Then | Yields |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Copper Flax | 20 coin | a flax plant | mill → smelt | Copper |
| Tin Flax | 20 coin | a flax plant | mill → smelt | Tin |
| Iron Flax | 50 coin | a flax plant | mill → smelt | Iron |
| Stoneberry | 20 coin | a bush, forever | — | Stone |
| Flintberry | 20 coin | a bush, forever | — | Flint |
The flax yields exactly what real flax yields — same growth timer, same world-modifier scaling — only the harvest is metal-bearing instead of fibre. The dust it's milled into behaves exactly like the raw ore it stands in for, with one deliberate asymmetry: the flax travels through portals, the dust does not. The berry bushes are permanent once planted, same as a vanilla Cloudberry Bush, just yielding stone or flint instead of fruit.
See Stations for every race's chain side by side.
War Vulture
The Furling is one of the two races allowed to ride the War Vulture by default (the Dvergar is the other) — a vulture trophy kept on a stick, craftable at a Forge for 10 Greydwarf Eyes, 2 Black Metal and 2 Raw Lox Meat. Left-click the item to summon it; the same click, held with the run key, gives you a limited sprint. There is no dedicated keybind — see Key bindings for the full mechanics, which apply the same way to every race allowed to ride.
