Trenta

Tree-born folk, kin to root and leaf. Patient and hard to fell.

The Trenta is the mod's patient race. Where the Aswid takes what it needs by killing and the Dvergar buys its way through the game, the Trenta simply stands still and waits — and the forest, recognising its own, walks past.

It is the only race whose signature ability costs nothing, has no cooldown and cannot be interrupted by anything except you moving.

Numbers are still being tuned

The Trenta shipped in 1.3.11 with several figures deliberately provisional, and its per-tier health table is currently all zeroes. Expect the numbers on this page to move.

Base kit (tier 1)

  • Green skin — you are visibly not made of meat.
  • A crown of branches — a greydwarf shaman's horns, grown out of your skull and sunk into it until only the branches show. Purely cosmetic, and visible to other players.
  • A diet of what grows, and every meal digests twice as slowly as it would for anyone else.
  • Photosynthesis — see below.
  • The forest does not see you — greylings, greydwarves, fulings, trolls, leeches and deathsquitos never attack first, from the very first tier and with no progression gate.

Photosynthesis

Stand motionless, in daylight, out from under a roof. After 10 seconds you put down roots:

  • 10% of your maximum health per second, for 8 seconds.
  • Rested for 5 minutes at base, plus 1 extra minute per boss you have already defeated.

"Motionless" is literal — the game reads your velocity, so drifting on a raft or being pushed counts as moving. Sun and open sky are both required; a roof over your head stops it.

This replaces the campfire-and-cooked-meal loop almost entirely. Early game, a Trenta that finds a clearing at dawn does not need a base.

Purple Rain

A spray of toxic pollen over 8 metres, on a 20 second cooldown. It heals everything that is not fighting you for 40, and poisons everything that is for 40.

"Ally" is not a fixed species list — it is the same hostility check the rest of the mod uses, so it automatically covers your tamed animals, your teammates, and the greylings and trolls that already ignore you.

Homecoming Portal

Opens a linked pair of portals — one where you stand, one at your respawn point — for 30 seconds, on a 5 minute cooldown.

Anyone may walk through, carrying anything. This is not a re-skinned vanilla portal, so the ore restriction does not apply to it.

Muspell

Toggles you into a half-size Elder. Press J again to revert.

Mechanics worth knowing

  • Awakened Seeds are a one-way trade. Eating the seed consumes it. Before Eikthyr falls, the same click does nothing special — it is still just planting material.
  • Flax has no awakened form. It produces fibre and never food in vanilla, so there is nothing to wake it into.
  • Thorns and Last Stand are always on. Neither has a trigger, a timer or a charge; Last Stand does nothing at full health and is at its strongest at the edge of death.
  • The Hornet's Nest is passive, not a keybind. Once the Queen is dead it simply exists, stinging anything hostile within 6 metres for 10 poison damage every 4 seconds.
  • Being ignored is not being safe. As with every race on that list, the creatures only decline to start a fight. Hit one and it retaliates exactly as it always would.

Stations

Composter

Cloned from the vanilla Fermenter, built at the Hammer for 1 Rot Seed, 20 Wood, 10 Resin, 5 Bronze. The Rot Seed itself costs 500 coin from the Greydwarf faction merchant, and owning one is what puts the Composter in the menu.

Feed it any raw flesh, one item at a time, up to a 100-unit tank. Once full it seals and runs a 40-minute timer, then a tap (empty-handed) collects 20 Fertilizer and resets it to filling — a net rate of 5 units of flesh per Fertilizer. If the piece is destroyed while a finished batch is sitting in it, that batch drops on the ground instead of being lost; flesh mid-rot is not so lucky.

Fertilizer instantly grows whatever it's used on: cultivated crops, tree saplings, and a fixed list of wild pickables (mushrooms, berries, thistle, dandelion, fiddlehead, wild barley and flax, vines). It has no food value of its own — it's a tool, not a meal.

Heartwood Grove

One piece, not three, despite the item chain implying otherwise. Craft a Heartwood Seed at the Cultivator for 20 Fertilizer, 1 Rot Seed, 10 Yggdrasil Wood — a full Composter batch — then plant it with the Hammer for 1 Heartwood Seed, no crafting station needed.

It grows on a 2-hour timer (real time, keeps advancing while unloaded), swapping from a sapling model to a full Yggdrasil shoot when mature. Once grown, three things run at once:

  • Auto-fertilising. Feed it Fertilizer (20-unit tank) and every 60 seconds it grows one random plant or pickable within 8 m — a full tank runs for 20 minutes unattended.
  • Defense. A hornet swarm anchored to the grove stings anything hostile within the same 8 m radius.
  • Honey. Fills its own chest at the vanilla beehive's own rate, but holding as much — day and night, no night gate.

Up to 10 groves per 1.6 km².

Root of the Elder

One of the Elder's own summoned roots, planted for good instead of fading — built with the hammer for 5 Guck and 10 Fine Wood once The Elder is down, and race locked to the Trenta.
