The race selection screen never appeared​

The menu only opens for a character that has no race saved yet. If you already chose one — even Human — it will not appear again.

Open the console and run resetrace to clear the race and bring the menu back.

An ability I just unlocked does nothing​

Progression drives stats and unlocks that are only recalculated when the game next re-evaluates your equipment. Force the refresh:

  1. Unequip and re-equip anything.
  2. Or relog.

Then confirm your tier with checkprogression — if it is lower than you expect, the world you are in has not actually recorded that boss kill. See Progression.

A transformation key does nothing​

Work through these in order:

  1. Is it unlocked at your tier? Run checkprogression and check the race's progression table.
  2. Is it night-gated? Most Fenrir forms and the early Aswid bat form are night-only when first unlocked.
  3. Is it on cooldown? Timed forms report their remaining cooldown on screen. Skadi shows it as a Moder trophy icon beside the minimap.
  4. Is a menu open? Abilities are suppressed while the map, inventory, a chest, the chat or any menu has focus.
  5. Are you grounded? Fenrir attacks only fire on the ground.

My abilities fire when I click things in a chest​

They should not — this was fixed. If it still happens, you are on an older build; update the mod.

Other players see my dragon duplicating, or the server lags badly​

This was a severe bug in transformed Skadi visual syncing where other clients respawned the dragon model every frame, stacking thousands of copies. The transformed player saw nothing wrong on their own screen.

It is fixed. If you see it, every player needs to be on the current version — one outdated client is enough to reproduce it.

The mod stopped loading after a Valheim update​

Check BepInEx/LogOutput.log for a Harmony patching error naming a method that no longer exists. Valheim occasionally renames internal methods, which breaks patches until the mod is rebuilt against the new version.

There is nothing to configure your way out of — report it on Discord with the log excerpt and wait for an update.

My skin colour is wrong or did not revert​

Skin tint is applied through the mod's patches and stored per character.

  • Did not apply: relog, or die once. The tint is re-applied on spawn.
  • Did not revert after resetrace: the original colour is only restored if it was saved when you first picked a tinted race. A character that was already tinted before that logic existed has nothing to restore. Recreating the character is the only clean fix.

I cannot eat anything​

That is probably the race, not a bug:

  • Skeleton cannot eat at all. Health comes from boss kills.
  • Draugh can only eat raw flesh, eyes, entrails and blood — never cooked food.
  • Aswid consumes fallen enemies rather than eating conventionally. If nothing is being devoured, press I — you may have toggled auto-devour off.

Where are the logs?​

BepInEx/LogOutput.log in your Valheim (or profile) folder. Include the section around the error when reporting a problem.
