v1.3.9 — Transforming back looks right, and remote forms come alive
Returning from a monster form stops replaying the animation you see when you join a world, remote dragons finally move and stay in the air, Trols are the right size for everyone else, and the Aswid keeps what it has eaten through death.
Transforming back no longer looks like respawning
Every Skadi dragon form, and the Aswid's Bat and Mist Forms, used to end the same way: your character dropped into the get-up-off-the-ground clip played when you spawn into a world, as if you had just logged in.
The cause was the human body being switched off entirely while you were transformed. The player's animator lives on that same object, and it restarts from its first state when it comes back — which for a Viking is standing up off the floor. The body is now hidden without ever being switched off, so you return upright, mid-stride, in whatever pose you were already in.
Multiplayer
- A transformed Skadi's dragon now moves for everyone else. Other players saw the right model frozen in its idle pose, gliding around without ever beating a wing or taking a step. The remote copy now follows the flying, grounded and running states of the player it belongs to.
- Remote Skadi flight works. A flying dragon used to be dragged down to the terrain on everyone else's screen, whatever altitude was actually being sent. Other players now see you in the air where you really are.
- Remote Trol sizing is fixed. Other players now see a Trol at the size that Trol's own progression calls for, instead of a size derived from the observer's progression, and True Form is finally visible to others at its full 2× or 2.5×. The size eases between values rather than snapping.
That closes both of the known issues left open in 1.3.8 — see Multiplayer.
Aswid
- Food buffs now survive death. Feeding is the whole of the Aswid diet, and losing every buff on a corpse run hit them far harder than it would a race that eats bread. Bukeperries still clear your food normally when you want the slots back.
- Surtlings and Bears joined the menu, and the Greydwarf family finally has real nutrition: 20 health for a Greyling, 25 for a Greydwarf, 30 for a Shaman and 60 for a Brute, the last lasting a full 30 minutes.
- Health regeneration from prey scales with how nourishing it was, instead of being the same flat trickle from everything you eat.
