v1.4.11 — the Bone Servant stops starving itself

Races of Valheim developer

Three tester reports against the Bone Servant, all with the same shape: the servant was doing exactly what the code said, and the code said the wrong thing. Alongside those, an input gate that let abilities fire through the build menu, and a Sverm beehive cap that was configured but never actually read.

The cook only ever produced one meat

PullOutput empties one slot per call — it finds the first finished slot, spawns its item, clears it, and returns. The servant's own routine swept the ground for its item before pulling a fresh one out of the station, so each visit collected the previous visit's meat and then left for the chest without grabbing what it had just pulled loose. A working hearth therefore always had exactly one cooked meat sitting beside it, forever. It now pulls first, in a loop bounded by the station's own slot count.

The furnace was starving on its own fuel

Fuel-loading ran behind ore-loading in the servant's plan, and a furnace's free slots reopen the instant it eats a single piece of ore — so ore-loading always had an answer and refuelling never got a turn. The blast furnace burned down to nothing between visits. Fuel now loads first.

A full chest meant fuel got dropped on the floor

When the chest search failed, the servant's fallback was to drop its load on the ground. It now offers that load to the nearest station that will actually consume it — as material or as fuel — first. A charcoal kiln releases its whole batch the moment its ore queue empties, which is exactly the kind of delivery a nearly-full chest can't absorb; that coal now walks into the furnace standing next to it instead.

Abilities could fire through the build menu

Skadi's Cold Spell is bound to the middle mouse button and kept casting with the piece-selection panel open. The gate was already there, but it was incomplete: vanilla's own input-blocking check has no reason to include the build menu, since build input is handled on its own separate path — but a mod ability reading input directly does need it. Fixed in the mod's single shared input gate, so it covers every race's bound abilities, not just Skadi's.

The Sverm beehive cap was configured and ignored

Beehives per Aura has been sitting in Configuration Manager for a while — nothing ever read it. A player could take over every beehive that fit inside a nest's aura and get an unlimited supply of free workers. It's now enforced, alongside two new entries, Aura Radius and Nest Spacing Radius, both clamped so a 0 or an absurd value can't be typed in to mean "unlimited." A beehive placed after the cap is full just waits its turn and gets claimed automatically the next time a taken one is destroyed.
